First of all you need to decide how do you want to approach Hardcore mode - you want safe, long and more boring run, or do you want to man up and do it in less time having more fun. The huge way to make whole hardcore run not only faster, but safer is to play in co-op with 2-4 people.
Diablo 3 is an amazing game with Reaper of Souls so if you liked Vanilla you will love it with RoS most likely. You should try and save the money. You should be able to get it for 20 Bucks. On G2A for example it is pretty much always for 25 Bucks. I would definitely recommend you trying to get it because it adds so much to the game
